Development > Being Economically Active Project
The aim of the project is to provide local people with
progression routes from unemployment, through training
and into employment and self-employment within identified
sectors of the East London Economy. The difference between
this and existing approaches to training in Poplar and
Leaside is that all activity will be part of a route
into work and will be sign-posted as such.
The BEA Team’s objectives are to improve local
service provision, and to deliver results that will
have a major impact on the daily lives of thousands
of residents. The project is thus about engaging with
local partnership agencies to reshape the way things
are done to deliver improved local services.
Being Economically Active has formed effective partnerships
within the area, which has reduced duplication, is providing
better training, and benefits local people more from
the regeneration taking place around them.
In addition it has identified gaps in the training
provision within the area and is addressing these with
more focussed training that will lead people into employment
and more economic sustainability.
If you are interested in finding out more, or involving
yourself in the economic regeneration of the area, whether
as an individual, training provider, business or investor
